1-Active Ingredient:
-Nifedipine
-Atenolol
2-Concentration:
Each capsule contains:
-Nifedipine 20 mg
-Atenolol 50 mg
3-Dosage form:
-Capsules
4-Indication:
-All forms of hypertension including renal hypertension
-Angina (prinze metal’s angina, chronic stable angina)
5-Side effect:
-Gastrointestinal troubles
-Headache
-Tachycardia
-dizziness
-Fatigue
-Flushing
-Hypotension
-Peripheral oedema
-Hyperdiasis.
6-Contraindication:
-Sensitivity to Nifedipine and Atenolol
-Acute myocardial infraction
-Chronic obstructive airway disease
7-Precautions:
These may need control adjustment:
-Pregnancy
-Diabetes mellitus
-Acute heart failure
8-Dose:
-Hypertension: 1 capsule once daily
-Angina: 1 capsule twice daily
Or as prescribed
9-Over dose:
-Stomach should be emptied by aspiration and lavage
-Hypotension treated by laying the patient in supine position and feet raised
-standard measures (atropine for bradycardia – noradrenalin for hypotension)
10-Storage:
-Store at 25 C
